I v newsové skupině comp.lang.python je občas veselo. V poslední době se objevil dotaz "Is Python dying?". Autor píše, že má rád Python, leč nepotkal moc knih o Pythonu, přestože existují knihy o Perlu, Javě, C, C++ a dokonce i Tcl/Tk. Pravděpodobně nejpodstatnější dotaz z článku je:

If Python is such a great language, why are there only 2 books (versus over 60 for Perl) and so few people talking about it?

Odpovědi na sebe nenechaly dloho čekat a některé jsou docela zajímavé: (rozhodně nechci zvednout flamewar o tom, co je lepší)

Python grew up in Academia, not on UseNet. Perl requires more books (this sounds silly, but... YOU try learning by reading someone else's scripts :-) There is a wider range of introductory documentation for Python that is freely available.

Python is just tooooo easy for most tasks. You really don't need any books. If you were asked to write a book on it you would be rather stuck, other than repeating the excellent texts already out.
